Erica is an Ontario Certified Teacher and has her Masters in Early Childhood Education. She wrote an interactive book for her final assignment of her Masters program called Outdoor Play is Too Dangerous and Other Early Childhood Myths Dispelled where she exposes the barriers teachers and parents face, which limit the time children spend playing outdoors. For several years Erica was the supervisor of a pre-school in York Region and was then appointed head of programming for three pre-school locations. Her duties involved planning and organizing curriculum, researching new programming ideas, purchasing toys and materials and training staff in ways to create meaningful & engaging learning experiences for all children both inside and outside of the classroom. Erica especially enjoyed using her knowledge, expertise and creativity in thoughtfully setting up classrooms at the beginning of each school year.
Erica currently spends her days playing with her daughter and shares her experiences here on her blog and on her Instagram page. She hosts webinars and workshops for both families and educators where she promotes the importance of play and how to engage in play at home and in the classroom through open-ended materials and a functional play space.
